Wednesday, December 20th, 2023: Utica Academy of Science Atoms took a pivotal step in planning for their future during SUNY POLY Instant Decision Day. Utica Academy seniors dressed to impress and met face-to-face with SUNY Polytechnic Institute representatives, presented their academic achievements and had the chance to make an impressive impact before getting an instant decision about their admission. The combined efforts of the presenter and our proactive senior students made Instant Decision Day a genuinely enriching experience, promoting a spirit of collaboration and empowering our students in their educational journey.

Here's to the future, filled with advanced discoveries, ground-breaking technologies, and extraordinary leaders!

Friday, January 5th, 2023: The Atoms Soccer Club has finished its first session of the school year. The scholars participated in different activities that gave them opportunities to develop their technical abilities, cognitive decision-making skills, and social-emotional skills. They had weekly training sessions and games throughout the season.

Here’s a special message from Coach Merriam:

"The kids are improving, and that's wonderful, but the real gain from all this is the community that is being built around the kids. We have something beautiful, and it comes full circle. The school supports the program and coaches, the coaches train the scholars, the scholars get opportunities to grow through sport, and as they get into the high school they have a chance to mentor the younger kids. So, it really goes full circle in the sense of building community. Everyone helps out."

Thursday, December 21st, 2023: Kindergarten and 1st grade students boarded the Polar Express. Atoms each received a ticket and sat in rows as they imagined the magical train ride. Our very own conductor, Ms. Smith, read the story. It was a magical day in the K-1 hallway of Utica Academy of Science.

Wednesday, December 20th, 2023: Utica Academy of Science facilitated meetings between senior students and a representative from Mohawk Valley Community College. For the second semester, staff have strategically planned dual credit courses for our students in accordance with our agreement with MVCC. 

Atoms are actively engaged in planning their university courses with the guidance of the college department, making the most of the opportunities offered by our school.
