Dear UAS Family,
On behalf of Utica Academy of Science Charter School, I'd like to welcome you to the 2022-23 school year! We are excited to start our tenth year while reaching the school’s maximum capacity with 858 students in grades K-12 in one large campus.
To maintain the same high quality, we have a busy summer filled with a variety of programs and workshops. Scholars attend sessions such as Summer Bridge Program, Regent Prep Sessions, Attendance Recovery Workshop, to STEM Enrichment Program all summer, until our staff comes back in late August for a two-week teacher orientation program prior to the first day of school in September.
In its charter, UAS promises to support and challenge each and every scholar to become well-rounded, college and career ready individuals. To reach this goal, the Academy consistently builds its programs around the key design elements aligned with its mission and vision to be an exemplary STEM Focused, and College Prep Public Charter School in New York State.
In addition to the existing dual credit, college connection, and AP classes, we will focus on building a sustainable STEM Program at UASCS to provide more opportunities for our scholars in 2022-23. These include, but not limited to:
- Four year plans with pathways towards engineering and health related careers.
- RIT GENIUS International Olympiads, paid summer internship, MVCC Math Corp, and STEP programs.
- National Congressional Award Program with small group mentoring, which offers weekend study groups, college visits, fun overnight camps and a lot of opportunities for personal development and character building.
As we approach the first day of school, I wish you a great rest of the summer and I look forward to seeing you for another great year at UAS.
