Frankfort Fire Department Receives Campus Tour

Utica Academy of Science Charter School welcomed the Frankfort Fire Department to tour the campus and become familiar with its new layout and additions.

Tuesday, February 15th, 2022Safety First. Safety Always at Utica Academy of Science Charter School! This month, UASCS welcomed the Frankfort Fire Department Chief Fred DiStefano and his crew to tour the campus and become familiar with its new layout and recent additions.

During the visit, each fire crew member received a detailed copy of the Utica Academy of Science Charter School campus. We want to thank the Frankfort Fire Department and the fire crew for taking time out of their busy schedules and for their service.

Atoms Participate in the Kid’s Heart Challenge

Utica Academy of Science elementary school students tape the Utica Academy of Science Dean to the wall as the ultimate prize in their donation to the American Heart Association’s Kids Heart Challenge.

Friday, February 11th, 2022—February is commonly known for its Valentine’s Day holiday. A lesser-known month-long awareness is with the American Heart Association and its Heart-Healthy awareness campaign.

This month, Utica Academy of Science elementary school students learned about the importance and value of understanding their emotional-well being and living a heart-healthy lifestyle. Through various hands-on, minds-on activities, the students participated in fund-raising campaigns benefiting the American Heart Association and the Kids Heart Challenge. The ultimate prize was participating in the main event of taping the Dean to the wall.

Elementary School Atoms Show their School Spirit

Utica Academy of Science elementary school students dress alike for their Spirit Day theme of Twin Day.

Wednesday, February 16th, 2022The week before Mid-Winter Recess, school spirit filled the air, hallways, and Utica Academy of Science elementary school classrooms. Atoms, teachers, faculty, and staff had an opportunity to dress in various spirit day themes such as Twin Day and Kindness Day. Each theme day allowed the students to express their creativity, demonstrate kindness towards one another, and get them excited for their upcoming week off of school.

Boys Basketball Quarter Finals Game

Utica Academy of Science boys basketball will be hosting its sectional game on Tuesday, February 22nd at 6:00 PM at UAS. Atoms will play VVS in the Quarter Finals.

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2022The Utica Academy of Science Atoms Boys Basketball team will be hosting its sectional game on Tuesday, February 22nd, at 6:00 PM. Come cheer on the Atoms as they take on VVS in the Quarter Finals of the Sectional Tournament. The game will be held at Utica Academy of Science Junior-Senior High School. Tickets cost $2 per adult and $1 per student. Let's go, Atoms!

Elementary Atoms Celebrate Black History Month

Utica Academy of Science elementary school celebrates Black History Month with an interactive wax museum exhibit for students to learn about influential African American citizens.

Thursday, February 17th, 2022Utica Academy of Science elementary school continues its celebration of Black History month with a hands-on, minds-on exhibit. The Atoms in 4 - 6th-grade will participate in a Wax Museum. The Atoms in Kindergarten - 3rd-grade will have an opportunity to walk through the wax museum to learn about influential African American citizens.

Utica Academy of Science elementary school celebrates Valentine’s Day with many sweet treats, and a team-building Valentine’s Day themed mystery game.

Monday, February 14th, 2022Utica Academy of Science elementary school celebrated Valentine's Day with sweet treats and an even sweeter teambuilding game. Students exchanged Valentine's Day cards with their classmates on this special day and enjoyed deliciously sweet treats and goodies. Ms. Winter's class participated in a hands-on, minds-on teambuilding mystery Valentine's Day game. Atoms were tasked with being detectives to help try and solve the puzzle.

Atoms Make our Hearts Pop with Creativity

Utica Academy of Science Junior-Senior high school 7th-grade students in Ms. Guzman’s art class painted candy masterpieces that use pop art as the inspiration.

Thursday, February 10th, 2022Sweets, love, joy and the Utica Academy of Science Atoms! The 7th-grade students in Ms. Guzman's art class unwrapped their creativity for Utica Academy of Science Junior-Senior high school's art expo that highlights the use of pop art.

Students studied various candies to create a masterpiece that uses pop art elements. Atoms would choose unique layouts that highlighted and made their candy subject pop. The medium for these art pieces is paint. Great work, Atoms!

Atoms ‘Know Thyself’ when visiting Hamilton College

Utica Academy of Science junior-senior high school ENL students learned how Hamilton College prepares its students to ‘know thyself’ and how to live a life of meaning, purpose and active citizenship during their college visit.

During their college visit, students learned how Hamilton College prepares its students to ‘know thyself’ and how to live a life of meaning, purpose and active citizenship. Throughout the day, students shared their plans for college, ideas and what it means to be a college student.

A Glowing Good Time with the Crazy 8’s Math Club

Utica Academy of Science elementary school students in the Crazy 8’s Math Club learned about 2D geometrical shapes and repeating patterns using glow sticks.

Monday, February 7th, 2022The Utica Academy of Science elementary school's Crazy 8's Math Club enjoyed their first-ever meeting, where students learned about 2D geometrical shapes and repeating patterns using glow sticks. During their meeting, Atoms worked together to create geometrical designs of repeating shapes and put their problem-solving skills to the test to determine how to create new geometrical shapes by removing one glow stick. Keep up the great work, Atoms!
