At UASCS, we believe college is for everyone. To assure our students reach that goal, we strive to provide our students with individualized guidance support to produce the best match between our students’ interests and colleges. Such a goal can be achieved through a strong relationship between home and school.
One of the key components of college guidance at UASCS is to expose students to the college environment through various college visits and guest speakers. College visits, hosting individual college representatives and guest speakers help our students expand their knowledge about necessary skills, requirements and available programs at local, regional and national colleges. UASCS' counseling department uses paperless college application tools; Naviance and Common App. for college applications.
Beginning in 2016, eligible UASCS atoms are able to earn dual credits from Mohawk Valley Community College. Atoms are able to either participate in school dual-credit courses or enroll in a college-level material course at Mohawk Valley Community College Campus via MVCC College Connection Program. Since the 2017-2018 academic year, eligible UASCS atoms are also able to enroll in college courses at the Utica College campus based on their career choices. Starting in the 2019-2020 academic year, eligible UASCS atoms have the opportunity to enroll in the Syracuse University Project Advance also known as SUPA courses in UASCS.
