Sixth graders went to Mohawk Valley Community College

On Wednesday, March 14, 2018, 6th grade scholars had the opportunity to tour and learn about Mohawk Valley Community College. For many of our scholars this is the first time on a college campus. Students were able to view the facilities and get a feel for college life. #UASCS #UASAtoms

Utica Academy held its first College Fair

On Tuesday, March 13, Tuesday, 2018, Utica Academy of Science held first annual College Fair in the high school gym.

We believe that college fairs are unique opportunities for our scholars to meet college admission representatives face to face and begin the process of thinking and determining college. It provides great help to start searching process or narrowing down to college options. For our first fair, there were 15 different colleges present and 6 different colleges who could not attend but sent materials for representation. We thank all colleges representatives who helped us to make it happen.

Utica Academy held its second blood drive of the year

On Thursday, March 1, 2018, Utica Academy of Science held its second blood drive event at high school library with the help of Red Cross; UASCS helped 51 hospital patient. 17 units of blood donations have been collected. 11 of the 17 donors were first time donor. Thank you very much for our parents and dedicated students who help us make this event happen.

Winter Ball Dance 2018

On Friday, February 16th, 2018, Utica Academy of Science had its Winter Ball Dance. Over sixty #UASAtoms scholars, teachers and administrators attended and enjoyed the great food, music, and dance. #UASCS #charterschools #charterchampions

UAS Atoms celebrated Black History Month

On Thursday, February 15th, 2018, #UASAtoms celebrated Black History Month at Utica Academy of Science #UASCS High School.

Black History Month, or National African American History Month, is an annual celebration of achievements by black Americans and a time for recognizing the central role of African Americans in U.S. history.

UAS Atoms visited Assured Information Security (AIS)

On Wednesday, February 14th, 2018, #UASCS visited Assured Information Security (AIS) in Rome, NY and learned about cyber security, engineering and drones. During the summer #UASAtoms will have an opportunity to do summer internship at Assured Information Security.

AIS was founded in 2001 as a software company focused on critical Air Force and Department of Defense cyber technology requirements research. We staffed and operated the Adversarial Sciences Laboratory within the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Information Directorate in Rome, NY, handling all areas of cyber operations. AIS mission is to define and develop generation-after-next concepts and capabilities to support and defend cyberspace.

AIS pursue this mission through research and development of technologies relevant to deterring deliberate threats and attacks on the United States information infrastructure. They focus on developing technologies that support information operations (IO), signals intelligence (SIGINT), and all phases of computer network operations (CNO).

60 scholars attended Saturday School

On Saturday, February 10th, 2018, 60 scholars attended Saturday School Tutoring at #UASCS Middle School. Hamilton College students also joined the teachers to support #UASAtoms scholars’ learning.

UAS Middle School held its second quarter award ceremony

On Friday, February 9th, 2018, Utica Academy of Science Middle School held its Second Quarter Award Ceremony. Scholars worked hard to earn awards in several categories such as Honor Roll, High Honor Roll, Dean's List, Most Improved Behavior, Most Improved Academic, and Best Behavior. There were total of 69 students out of 161 students during the ceremony. Congratulations to all #UASAtoms at #UASCS.

President & CEO at WCNY Robert Daino visited UAS High School

On Friday, February 9th, 2018, President & CEO at WCNY Robert Daino visited Utica Academy of Science high school. Mr. Daino has been President and CEO of Central New York’s public broadcasting company, WCNY Public Media, since 2005.

Mr. Daino opened an Education Center as part of the company’s new facility that hosts a unique model for experiential learning, the Enterprise America program. Enterprise America provides middle school students an immersive learning experience focused on STEM (science, technology, education and math) skills, entrepreneurship and financial and civic literacy. It’s the first of its kind in New York State and has the potential to reach 700,000 students within a 2-hour radius of Syracuse. Entered a partnership with OCM-BOCES and Onondaga Community College to launch an innovative co-curricular program for high school students. Students who graduate from the two-year program will earn a Regents diploma with technical certifications, 18 college credits, and have invaluable practical experience in all aspects of working in a multi-media broadcast environment.

On Tuesday, February 6th, 2018, parents, students, & staff from Utica Academy of Science went to Albany, NY to be part of the NYS Charter School Advocacy Day. UAS Atoms visited and talked to Assemblyman Brindisi and Senator Griffo.
