Sunday, March 6th, 2022—It's almost game day, Atoms .... Who's Ready?!

With one win away from the title Section III Class B Champions, the Utica Academy of Science Atoms get ready to take on the Chittenango Bears. Here is some information to help make sure you are game day ready.

The Section III Class B Boys Basketball Finals will take place on Sunday, March 6^th, at Onondaga Community College's SRC Arena. Tip-off will begin at 3:00 PM. Tickets are $10 per person. Children 12 years and under are free when accompanied by an adult. The gates will open one-hour before tip-off. Please click here to purchase tickets to cheer on your Utica Academy of Science Atoms!

We also ask that all students and their families please wear the school colors - white, navy, or burgundy. This will be a fun way to show our school spirit as we cheer on the Atoms.

Stick around after the game and come cheer on the Syracuse Academy of Science Boys Basketball team as they take on the New Hartford Spartans. Their game will begin at 5:00 PM at Onondaga Community College's SRC Arena. Please click here to purchase tickets for this game.

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2022—In honor of National Read Across America Day, we encourage all of our Atoms and their families to find time today (this week or month) to read a good book. Below are some fun facts about reading that may surprise you.

• Reading is a great Stress Reliever - Studies show that reading reduces stress by 68%
• It all adds up - Reading just 20 minutes a day adds up to reading 1,800,000 words per year
• The fastest way to build vocabulary - Children learn 4,000–12,000 words every year by reading

Dr. Seuss said it the best, "The more that you read, the more things you'll know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go!"

We hope everyone can find time to pick up a book and celebrate National Read Across America Day.

Sunday, February 27th, 2022—It’s official the Utica Academy of Science Atoms have done it again and are going to the Class B Finals after defeating the Lowville Red Raiders with a score of 67-49.

The player of the game goes to Point Guard, Doneilous King Jr., who helped seal a victory with the Atoms. In the 4^th quarter, King Jr. scored 16 of his game-high 27 points, including two 3-pointers.

The boys basketball Class B Championship Game will be held at Onondaga Community College’s SRC Arena on Sunday, March 6^th at 3:00 PM. Friday, December 17th, 2021—On this ‘Giving Tuesday,’ we want to highlight Utica Academy of Science junior-senior high school's National Honor Society as they hosted a Holiday Toy Drive to spread a little cheer this past winter season. Thanks to the generosity of not only the Atoms but the greater Utica community, we all helped make a difference to those in need this holiday season. The toys were donated to the local Utica Toys for Tots organization. Thanks to everyone’s efforts, the National Honor Society members received a special award from the Toys for Tots organization.

Sunday, February 27th, 2022—Come cheer on your Utica Academy of Science Atoms as they take on Lowville in the Semifinals. The boys' basketball game will take place at Onondaga Community College's SRC Arena on Sunday, February 27^th, at 1:45 PM.

Tuesday, February 15th, 2022—Safety First. Safety Always at Utica Academy of Science Charter School! This month, UASCS welcomed the Frankfort Fire Department Chief Fred DiStefano and his crew to tour the campus and become familiar with its new layout and recent additions.

During the visit, each fire crew member received a detailed copy of the Utica Academy of Science Charter School campus. We want to thank the Frankfort Fire Department and the fire crew for taking time out of their busy schedules and for their service.

Friday, February 11th, 2022—February is commonly known for its Valentine’s Day holiday. A lesser-known month-long awareness is with the American Heart Association and its Heart-Healthy awareness campaign.

This month, Utica Academy of Science elementary school students learned about the importance and value of understanding their emotional-well being and living a heart-healthy lifestyle. Through various hands-on, minds-on activities, the students participated in fund-raising campaigns benefiting the American Heart Association and the Kids Heart Challenge. The ultimate prize was participating in the main event of taping the Dean to the wall.

Wednesday, February 16th, 2022—The week before Mid-Winter Recess, school spirit filled the air, hallways, and Utica Academy of Science elementary school classrooms. Atoms, teachers, faculty, and staff had an opportunity to dress in various spirit day themes such as Twin Day and Kindness Day. Each theme day allowed the students to express their creativity, demonstrate kindness towards one another, and get them excited for their upcoming week off of school.

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2022—The Utica Academy of Science Atoms Boys Basketball team will be hosting its sectional game on Tuesday, February 22^nd, at 6:00 PM. Come cheer on the Atoms as they take on VVS in the Quarter Finals of the Sectional Tournament. The game will be held at Utica Academy of Science Junior-Senior High School. Tickets cost $2 per adult and $1 per student. Let's go, Atoms!

Thursday, February 17th, 2022—Utica Academy of Science elementary school continues its celebration of Black History month with a hands-on, minds-on exhibit. The Atoms in 4 - 6^th-grade will participate in a Wax Museum. The Atoms in Kindergarten - 3^rd-grade will have an opportunity to walk through the wax museum to learn about influential African American citizens.
