Girls Volleyball Home Opener

Utica Academy of Science Lady Atoms will be taking on Sauquoit Valley for their volleyball season home opener, on Friday, December 3rd. The Junior Varsity team opens the night with a match at 5:00 PM, followed by the Varsity team at 7:00 PM.

The Breakfast of Champions, Atoms Style!

Utica Academy of Science junior senior high school recognized its students with a special breakfast, with achievements in honor roll, dean’s list, Science Olympiad, and most improved citizen of the quarter.

Joining the Atoms for this special breakfast was Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon who not only congratulated the students for all their hard work and achievements ... but graciously volunteered her time to help serve breakfast to the students!

No Data Breach here: Atoms pass their CSCU Exam

Utica Academy of Science students passed their first Certified Secure Computer User (CSCU) test and received their certificate by EC-Council Academia. Congratulations, Atoms!

Thursday, November 4th, 2021Congratulations to all the Utica Academy of Science students in Mr. Seker's cybersecurity class for passing their first Certified Secure Computer User (CSCU) test and receiving their certificate by EC-Council Academia!

The passing of the CSCU exam and receiving this prestigious certificate will open many doors for these students. The CSCU certificate will help students apply to colleges in STEM fields, and will allow them to experience the new EC-Council Essential Series. The Essentials Series and Certified Cybersecurity Technician (CCT) certifications will prepare and validate their skills for entry-level job roles of the future.

It’s the (Great Pumpkin) Painting Event, Atoms!

Utica Academy of Science Junior Senior High School students in the 7th and 8th grade paint pumpkins for a fun, creative and artistic Fall themed activity.

Friday, October 29th, 2021It’s time for a fun fall ‘Flashback Friday,’ are you ready? In late October Utica Academy of Science junior senior high school students in the 7th and 8th grade were busy at work completing their benchmark exams, taking their school pictures, and were in need of a creative outlet. The teachers surprised the students with a fun, hands-on artistic fall activity of pumpkin painting! The weekend prior to the activity, teachers headed to a few pumpkin patches and picked 150 pumpkins for this fall activity.

On the Friday before Halloween, students headed to the cafeteria, rolled up their sleeves and put their creativity to the test decorating and painting pumpkins. Click here to visit our Facebook page to view more pictures from this event.

Athletes of the Month - October

Utica Academy of Science high school names Savannah and Nedim Athletes of the Month. Both students play soccer for the Atoms and were recognized by their coaches.

Tuesday, November 9th, 2021Congratulations to Utica Academy of Science elementary school September and October ClassDojo Awardees! Atoms who earned the top Dojo points for their class enjoyed a special treat of fun, music and of course playing outside on the playground. Keep up the great work Atoms!

UAS Announces its Newest Program: Character Strong

Utica Academy of Science Junior Senior High School students in Ms. Adams' 7th Grade Advisory group worked on becoming Character Strong!

Character Strong meets each Wednesday in their Mentor Groups.

Atoms Share A Cup of Coffee with Veterans

In honor of Veterans Day, Utica Academy of Science Junior Senior High School hosted a Coffee with Veterans event for students, families and staff to enjoy.

Wednesday, November 10th, 2021In honor of Veterans Day, Utica Academy of Science junior senior high school hosted a Coffee with Veterans event for families, students, and staff to enjoy. 

During this event, attendees had an opportunity to hear stories from the veterans as they shared their wisdom and knowledge and experience serving in the United States Military. In addition, Atoms also had a chance to thank the veterans for their service.

Utica Academy of Science Charter School would like to thank all those who have served in all branches of the United States Military, and for those who continue to serve. We hope you had a very happy Veterans Day!

CNY Bridges: Build ‘Em & Bust ‘Em Competition

Utica Academy of Science junior senior high school students competed and received 3rd and 4th place in the annual STEM Engineering competition, CNY Bridges: Build ‘Em and Bust ‘Em Competition.

Saturday, November 6th, 2021Can they build it? Yes they can! On Saturday, November 6th Utica Academy of Science junior senior high school students competed in the annual CNY Bridges: Build ‘Em & Bust ‘Em competition held at the MOST.

This student STEM competition in balsawood bridge engineering allows for participants to compete individually or as a team. For the competition, students are tasked with designing and constructing a truss bridge built entirely of glue and balsawood. On the day of the competition, participants submit their bridge for a test of its efficiency rating, a measure of how many times its own weight the bridge can support before structural failure. Awards are given in three categories: Category I (grades 4-6), Category II (grades 7-8) and Category III (grades 9-12). 

We are pleased to announce that our 8th grade participants received 3rd and 4th place in their Category II division. In the Category II division, there were 21 teams total. Congratulations to all of the Utica Academy of Science junior senior high school Atoms, your hard work certainly paid off, and we are so incredibly proud of you and all that you have accomplished!
