Saturday, November 23, 2024: Utica Academy of Science Charter School welcomed alumni back to campus for its inaugural Alumni Dinner. The event was a heartwarming evening of laughter, nostalgia, and inspiration as former students from all graduating years gathered to celebrate their shared memories and successes.
This event was a testament to the strength and unity of the UAS community. We thank everyone who joined us and helped make this night so special. The bonds we share as part of the UASCS family continue to grow stronger, and we look forward to many more alumni events in the future.

Saturday, November 9th, 2024: Utica Academy of Science Junior-Senior High School recently celebrated its students' outstanding achievements at the annual Bridges Challenge. Held at the Museum of Science and Technology (MOST) in Syracuse on Saturday, November 11th, this year’s event featured 75 teams competing to test their engineering skills in a challenging environment. UAS students demonstrated exceptional innovation, teamwork, and engineering talent, ultimately winning four awards.
The competition encouraged teams to design and build bridges that balanced strength with weight efficiency. Each bridge was evaluated based on the load it could carry relative to its mass.

These results highlight the hard work, perseverance, and dedication of UAS Atoms, who continue to set high standards in STEM competitions. The students’ achievements were made possible by the dedication and support of UAS educators. Special congratulations go to Mr. Babacan and Mr. Uzumcu for their skillful preparation of the students, and Mr. Ikram and Mr. Salum for their valuable contributions to the team.
Fostering a love for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, UAS remains committed to nurturing students’ potential in these fields. Their performance at the Bridges Challenge demonstrates the powerful combination of talent and determination among the UAS community. Let the success continue as these students aim high and build bridges to the future!

Wednesday, October 16th, 2024: Celebrating Unity Day at Utica Academy of Science Elementary! Atoms wore orange and worked on classroom projects focused on stopping different types of bullying. Unity Day is all about standing together against bullying and promoting kindness in our schools!

Saturday, October 12th, 2024: Incredible scholars from grades 6-10 showcased their skills at the Catapult Challenge at the Museum of Science & Technology! Out of 65 competing teams, 14 came from Utica Academy of Science, and we’re thrilled to announce that our 9th-grade team achieved 3rd place!
Join us in celebrating their hard work, creativity, and determination!

Tuesday, September 24th, 2024: Utica Academy of Science seniors had the privilege of hearing from Brian Gleitsmann, Utica University Admissions Counselor! Brian gave an engaging presentation about their wonderful opportunities and provided valuable insights into the college application process. He also highlighted the benefits of Instant Decision Day, where students can receive an on-the-spot admission decision.

Thursday, September 19th, 2024: Utica Academy of Science parents and students had the incredible opportunity to connect with over twenty community organizations and explore valuable resources available in our area.
It was also a great chance for families to meet and engage with our dedicated teachers, setting the stage for a successful school year ahead.
A big thank you to all the organizations, staff, and families who made this event a huge success! We are building a stronger community for our students, one Atom at a time.

Saturday, September 7th, 2024: The 2024-25 FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) season officially launched! Utica Academy of Science Junior-Senior High School participated in the exciting kickoff event at Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC), where scholars got their first look at this year's theme: "Into the Deep."
Our team is ready to take on the challenge of designing, building, and programming robots capable of exploring the ocean's depths! This event sets the stage for a thrilling season of engineering and innovation as our students dive deep into the world of robotics.

Monday, August 19th, 2024: This week, Deans, curriculum coordinators, and coaches are participating in an intensive training on the Marzano "New Art and Science of Teaching" framework held at Syracuse Academy of Science High School. Dr. Melanie Magee, a coach, consultant, and presenter from Marzano Resources, led the training. The sessions' primary focus is effectively using the Marzano framework to coach teachers and improve instructional practices. Key areas covered include direct instruction and strategies for increasing student engagement, which have been reviewed in depth to enhance teaching quality across SANY schools.

Tuesday, June 11th, 2024: We were honored to welcome Assemblyman Brian D. Miller to Utica Academy of Science Junior-Senior High School. Assemblyman Miller shared his inspiring journey from high school to politics, emphasizing the importance of leadership and community involvement.
Mr. Miller also highlighted the critical role of science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM) education in opening career opportunities and driving innovation. His words inspired our juniors to pursue excellence in STEAM and become future leaders.
From late-night study sessions to unforgettable moments with friends, they have made memories that will last a lifetime. Together, they’ve achieved so much and grown into the amazing young adults they are today. This is just the beginning! Before they embark on this new chapter in their stories, let’s take a moment to celebrate their journey and look forward to the bright futures ahead.
